18 Sep Coronary Inflammation Index Derived from CTA Might Predict Cardiovascular Risk
NEJM: This study identified a potential novel measure of inflammation that can be derived from standard CTA imaging and correlated with cardiac-related and overall mortality. However, editorialists note the process currently is time consuming and requires specialized expertise, which limits its application. Moreover, although they note its potential application in preventive cardiology, this analysis was performed in patients who were undergoing clinically indicated CTAs — the generalizability of these findings to primary prevention currently is unclear. Stay tuned to see if these obstacles can be overcome.
